The Biggest Mystery In ‘GTA’ Could Be Solved Via An Insane New Heist

The ever-evolving world of GTA Online has been progressively getting more and more utterly insane as the months and years roll on. While upon its release it served as a multiplayer online extension of its single-player sandbox, the Rockstar Games crew has used the intervening years to add progressively more bonkers options to the game, taking it from an already over-the-top experience to something closer to light psychosis.

But while the online experience initially focused on team-based heists, much to the delight of players, the developers seemingly abandoned story-based expansions in favour of trying to come up with the most bullshit, artillery-strapped vehicles they could think of.

That is, until now.

Rockstar has lifted the lid on The Doomsday Heist, the latest free add-on for GTA Online, and the first new heist mode added to the game since 2015.

Better still, not only does the new heist utilise a solid handful of the outrageous vehicles added to the game in recent updates, but it seems like it’s about to do the one thing the game has held off on since its release: crack open the mysterious Mount Chiliad.

Per Rockstar’s official synopsis:

A billionaire tech mogul, an idealistic intelligence agent, a socially awkward conspiracy theorist and a neurotic supercomputer have been forced into an unlikely alliance to save San Andreas from total annihilation. As apocalyptic threats mount from enemies unknown, you and your criminal crew are enlisted to un-tangle mysteries and eradicate threats spanning from the bustling streets of downtown Los Santos to the ocean floor and all the way to the inner depths of Mount Chiliad in an epic new online adventure.

And hell no, your eyes do not deceive you: That is indeed a flying Delorian-lookin’ car that’s also somehow a submersible.

Also, jet packs.

Jet. Packs.

The Doomsday Heist update is due to automatically hit GTA on December 12. Prep your bunkers.
