GTA V is a dense game. There’s an insane amount of shit to see and do, not to mention the vast possibilities tied to online play.
But there’s one mystery that’s been teasing players for years: the elusive alien egg.
Found underwater off the coast of the Sonar Docks, the alien egg has been the source of a longtime rumour that Rockstar have hidden some kind of secret mission around the item.
You better believe people took that shit seriously. For a long bloody time, players have been scouring the entire map for clues or entrances to the potential mission, but found absolutely nothing.
The game copped a huge update a couple of weeks ago, bringing massive underground bunkers into the world, along with new weapons and vehicles. According to a bunch of people with an incredible amount of spare time, there’s a bunch of files and code hidden deep within the update that hint at a UFO crashing near the Zancudo military base.
Modding group, Team Guru, spent weeks trying to activate this new code in the game and after a shitload of hard work, they finally got it to appear. You can check out the mission in the video below.
Yeah, there’s not a lot to it, which is disappointing for such an infamous myth, but it’s cool to see that the folks at Rockstar did actually have something up their sleeves.
And to be fair, there’s absolutely no indication that this is intended to be the entire thing, with some hoping it’s just one part of a larger group of missions. I’d be pissed off too if I spent years searching for a great mystery inside a video game only to be given a lousy 10 minutes of gameplay.
We’ll know for sure when Rockstar decide to activate the mission. Here’s hoping we get a jetpack out of it or something.
