Facebook Is Going To Ruin Your Entire Day By Autoplaying Videos With Sound

Welcome to a fresh, revitalised hell where Facebook think it’s ok to autoplay videos with sound.

You read that correctly, Facebook will soon be rolling out an update that means videos will automatically start playing like they have been for quite some time, only now it has the potential to ruin your entire day with volume.
But look, it’s not the end of the world. According to the company, autoplay will not interrupt music already playing via Apple Music, Spotify or anywhere else you might be playing tunes from. You’ll also be able to turn the setting off in your autoplay settings.
Furthermore, Facebook have stressed that they’ll default to the sound settings you have already selected for your device. So if you have it set to silent, they’ll honour that setting and keep videos silent.
Perfect if you’re having a cheeky flick through your feed during a boring meeting.
So why do it at all? They reckon having sound turned on automatically will keep y’all engaged for longer. As video content becomes a bigger focus for the platform, one of the hardest challenges is how to get people watching more often and for longer periods.
Will it work? I doubt it. Autoplay is already a drain on mobile data, so why would anyone want to harsh that experience even further by willingly keeping it on?
Plus, it’s only encouraging the makers of those fucking trick videos with porn sounds to continue making them. It’s not funny anymore you sex pest weirdos, just stop.
The updates were shared by Facebook today, but just when we’ll see them in action is not yet confirmed.
