OH GOD NO: Google Might Start Putting Autoplay Videos Into Your Searches

Platforms that allow videos to autoplay are, frankly, the fucking antichrist. Nothing manages to piss me off more than a video that plays at full volume when you’re just trying to have a leisurely scroll through your news feed.

Welp, bad news, folks. Google is currently testing autoplay videos directly in your search results. Fuck. That.
The feature has been spotted by a few users, noting that the videos appear at the top of their results for certain searches. Allegedly, searching for information about movies or TV shows will put the video on the right-hand sidebar where it will play automatically without ads.
I can’t get it to happen, so the test is probably confined to a small sample group, rather than across the board.

“We are constantly experimenting with ways to improve the search experience for our users, but have no plans to announce at this time,” said a Google spokesperson.
If you’re caught up in the test, it’ll only happen if you’re on a desktop computer, as mobile users will need to tap to play.
Google also recently announced plans to alter its home page for the first time since 1996, a move that’s also sure to get internet users all riled up. Whether or not they’ll go ahead with that or the wider inclusion of autoplay video is yet to be confirmed.
Don’t do it, guys. If we wanna watch something, we’ll bloody click it ourselves.
