The upcoming Call of Duty game has the franchise heading back to its WWII origins, and while we’ve seen plenty of multiplayer gameplay so far, there’s now have a trailer focussing on the campaign side of the title.
It doesn’t show any first-person footage, but it does give us a look both the overarching narrative and the hectic facial capture work used to create some incredibly lifelike visuals.
“Call of Duty: WWII tells the story of Private Ronald “Red” Daniels, a young recruit in the U.S. First Infantry Division who experiences combat for the first time on D-Day, one of the largest amphibious assaults in history,” the YouTube video description reads.
“After surviving the beaches of Normandy, Red and his squad will fight their way across Europe, engaging the enemy in iconic battle locations such as the Hürtgen Forest and the Battle of the Bulge, as they make their way into Germany.”
While most games set during the conflict shy away from depicting concentration camps, COD: WWII’s narrative looks to come closest to this reality, showing Nazis rounding up Jews in the confronting trailer.
Call of Duty has always invested in their single player campaigns, but it looks like it’s going to be pretty heavy this time around. Check out the trailer below.
