An iPhone Supplier Might Have Just Cheekily Let Slip A Huge New Feature

We’re at that point in the iPhone development cycle where the leaks are truly, truly flowing. Today’s rumour seems like a no-brainer to us, and it’s based on a slip of the tongue from one of Apple‘s suppliers.

It’s pretty likely that the iPhone 8 will have wireless charging – a huge boon which has been present on a number of other smartphones for a little while. According to Nikkei, the CEO of iPhone assembly company Wistron, Robert Hwang, let slip that wireless charging components are something they’re supplying.
Speaking to reporters after a shareholder conference, Hwang dished the goods:
Assembly process for the previous generations of [iPhones] have not changed much, though new features like waterproof and wireless charging now require some different testing, and waterproof function will alter the assembly process a bit

Obviously, the rumour has been circulating for a while anyway, and many Apple analysts have pointed to wireless charging as the next frontier for the company, but that looks pretty solid to us.

Knowing Apple, this is probably just another step towards ditching yet another port and therefore attempting to make their phones as thin as a slice of glass, for literally no reason other than it looks bloody schmick in ads.
Either way, you’ll probably be getting a neato wireless charging solution on your next iPhone.
