WATCH: Wrecking Crews Finally Attack Perth’s $70M Abandoned Mega-Mansion

Demolition crews have finally set upon one of Australia’s most expensive half-cooked mansions, six years after it was abandoned by its owners.

Footage from the so-called Taj On Swan, nestled in Perth’s not-cheap Peppermint Grove, shows work crews setting upon the unfinished palace / wannabe Tony Hawk’s Underground level with considerable gusto:

Despite a purported $70 million price tag, Pankaj and Radhika Oswal ditched the joint after their ammonia business went busto at the turn of the decade. Also ditched: hundreds of thousands of dollars in unpaid property taxes and council rates, so a tear-down was kinda called for.

The Oswals were given leeway to commence demolition of the pad by the end of last month, but their no-show has prompted the Council to get it done itself. RIP to one of the city’s genuine tagger and squatter hangouts:

The giant concrete hulk was intended to sport seven domes upon completion, along with a fully-fledged temple to complement its swimming pool and gym.

Demolition crews have confirmed it won’t all be for waste, though: materials from the concrete leviathan will be recycled for use in road construction.

It’s all a bit Queen of Versailles, hey?
