WATCH: Friendlyjordies Goes In For Clover & Rips Baird Before SYD Election

The Sydney mayoral election is on Saturday, and it’s a doozy. Clover Moore has been Lord Mayor since 2004, and her broadly progressive agenda has gotten a bee under the bonnet of the Liberal Party in NSW. See, though Sydney’s CBD has a lot of businesses (of course), the people who actually live in Sydney Council tend to be progressive, non-business owners.

So they vote in Clover, because they want action on climate change, more green spaces and a vibrant nightlife. So, the Casino Mike government brought in a fairly ludicrous dual-voting system, which gives business owners in Sydney council a vote. Two votes, if they also live in the local government area.

It’s basically a scheme to thrust Lib candidate Christine Forster (Tony Abbott‘s sister, incidentally) into power. Friendlyjordies has made a pretty solid video overviewing Clover’s achievements and giving a big ol’ middle finger to Baird’s undemocratic, business-first policy. Have a squiz:
Incidentally, we also chatted to Moore and council candidate Jess Scully on Facebook Live just yesterday about lockouts, culture, and that 2-for-1 voting deal. Have a squiz:
