Twitter Makes Sonia Kruger’s #AsAMother Line Its Own To Combat Racism

As you surely, surely must have seen by now, Sonia Kruger has been the name on everyone’s lips in a “hey could you not” kinda way after she tentatively suggested maybe we should ban all Muslims from immigrating to Australia.

She made the comments on ‘Today‘, citing an article from history’s greatest villain (note: conjecture), Andrew Bolt, who used some extremely poor logic and use of statistics to suggest that Japan is safer because they ‘allow’ less Muslims in.
Obviously, she got slammed for saying something so wildly dumb (it even included a “I have Muslim friends, but”), but somehow managed to make it worse again by doubling down on it with a half-hearted “as a mother,” explanation.

People did not take kindly to this and took to #AsAMother to show that you can’t use your kids as an en excuse for bigotry.

It’s pretty heartfelt stuff, a lot of rhetoric about Islam from the far right really forgets that these people are mothers and fathers and sons and daughters and a lot of them already live here. Imagine trying to go to school as a Muslim kid while every white kid’s parents are talking about whether you deserve to be here or not. Disgusting.
