Romance Was Born A/W 2009

“Yeti Magic” Romance Was Born’s aptly named A/W 09 collection possess all the tribally influenced, meticulously crafted and hopelessly dreamy pieces we’ve come to expect from the most idiosyncratic duo in Australian fashion.

Recruiting look book favourite Tallulah Morton and an unidentifiable male, Plunkett and Sales limit the kaleidoscopic colour palette that is their trademark, clearly finding purity in monochrome. The flashes of colour (electric blue prints or red fringing) that do appear contrast beautifully with the shades of black and white that make up the collection and bring to mind a certain clarity and cleanliness. This organic aesthetic is compounded through extensive use of knitwear and fringing – giving wedges the appearance of moccasins and giving lateral free-flowing movement to dresses and jackets.

Once again Romance Was Born produce a bold, character-driven collection that offers the fashion forward escapism and flamboyance in equal parts.
