Rachel McAdams Posed For A British Mag Breast Pumping In Versace & It’s Fire

Rachel McAdams has posed for British high fashion mag Girls. Girls. Girls. pumping breast milk and wow, that’s some fkn powerful motherhood imagery.

Claire Rothstein, founder and editor of the mag, plus the photographer for this cover shoot, shared the soon-to-be iconic shot on her Instagram yesterday. In the piccie, 40-year-old McAdams is wearing a Versace jacket, a sxc Fleur du Mal bra, and a Bulgari diamond choker, as styled by Alicia Lombardini, and she looks like a goddess.

Rothstein explained in her caption that McAdams needed to express breast milk between shots – she gave birth to her son, with her partner, writer Jamie Linden, back in April. She added that she doesn’t know if it was her or McAdams who decided to take this particular piccie, but she’s pretty sure “it was [McAdams] which makes me love her even more“.

The photographer continued, talking about the importance of changing perceptions of breastfeeding, the most normal, natural thing for women to do, that still can be such a taboo subject, particularly in the fashion industry. And hey, there’s still people out there who lose their shit when women breastfeed in cafés or Australian parliament. Or when Chrissy Teigen posts a pic of herself doing it on the ‘Gram.

Breastfeeding is the most normal thing in the world and I can’t for the life of me imagine why or how it is ever frowned upon or scared of. I don’t even think it needs explaining but just wanted to put this out there, as if it even changes one person’s perception of something so natural, so normal, so amazing then that’s great.

Here’s Rothstein’s full commentary:

A million reasons why I wanted to post this picture. Obviously #rachelmcadams looks incredible and was quite literally the dream to work with but also this shoot was about 6 months post her giving birth to her son, so between shots she was expressing/pumping as still breastfeeding. We had a mutual appreciation disagreement about who’s idea it was to take this picture but I’m still sure it was hers which makes me love her even more. Besides she’s wearing Versace and @bulgariofficial diamonds and is just fucking major. Big shout out to all the girls

Stylist and fashion director for Girls. Girls. Girls. Lombardini also posted the shot, writing: “Strength, beauty and overall badass, collaborating on this shoot with Rachel was so extremely invigorating. She epitomises a modern woman who can juggle it all, with grace, glamour and humour. She could not be more beautiful to me.

The post has blown up since Rothstein dropped it, and Girls. Girls. Girls. are definitely stoked with themselves, writing on Instagram: “[T]he outpouring of love and support for [the photo] has been completely mind-blowing! Please keep this shit up you wonderful people, keep spreading the word of how insanely NORMAL but utterly FABULOUS being a badass working mum is.

Here’s some more shots from the shoot, in case you can’t wait for the mag to actually come out, you want to froth over McAdams some more (me too).
