Melbourne Voted Australia’s Best City, Probably By Melburnians

Adding more fuel to the fire burning at the heart of every inane pissing contest you wish you’d never engaged in with a Melburnian concerning which of the country’s two largest cities is boss, Melbourne has been voted Australia’s Best City in a reader’s choice survey conducted by Australian Traveller magazine. That about settles it then.

According to news.com.au, some 1100 Australians – probably from Melbourne – were surveyed for the highly-scientific census determining which cities and hamlets can lay claim to dubious titles like Most Romantic City and Best Cruise Experience. Popular consensus amongst surveyed participants indicates that Queensland can still lay claim to the title of best state in which to do absolutely nothing [best summer, beach and camping holidays, best guided 4WD tour on Fraser Island]; Victoria can claim bragging rights as the state in which you’re most likely to get knocked up [most romantic, best winter holiday destination and best town going to charming Daylesford]; and Sydney can still boast the right to call itself the city in which you’re most likely to get classy-boozed as sin in a pleasant waterside environment [best bar for Opera Bar, best restaurant for Quay]. Typical Sydney.
