Kochie, you bougie marvel, you. You magnificently eccentric weirdo. Just keep doing you, fashion-wise mate.
Everyone’s favourite daggy dad of TV was a style icon last night at Carols In The Domain, wowing us all in a true delight of a suit jacket.
He is literally everyone’s dad when they’re left to their own devices in the suit section and decide to “spice things up a bit”. And then mum comes in and removes the spicy jacket and replaces it with a simple black number. Just shitting all over dad’s creative flow.
The spicy little number didn’t come cheap. It’s priced at $16,500. That is more than your car probably cost. It’s more than I would spend on clothes in a year, and I’m a Style Editor.
There is a sweet story behind the jacket, though. It’s by Aussie brand Joe Bananas – and Kochie took to his Facebook to post the above pic and tell the story behind the brand.
“For those who are interested Joe Bananas Australia , whose jacket I’m wearing, is an Australian business which has been going 30 years,” he wrote. “It’s such a great success story in a really tough industry. Their secret is to be creative and unique. Their clothes are like a piece of art.”
Kind of nice to rep an Aussie brand that’s been doing the hard yards for 30 years. And given the jacket’s 100% silk and made-to-measure, the price tag kind of makes sense. KIND OF. Still seems slightly insane but hey, I am not a fashion designer.
Style wise, it’s not entirely far off from Harry Styles‘ Gucci vibes is it. So maybe – MAYBE – Kochie is actually a style lord and we never knew it.
I for one would be here for a fashion collab from one David Koch. Hope you’re reading this, Kochie.
