Karen Walker Spring 2010

What does a heavy weight fashion week and a 60s cult tv show have in common? – Karen Walker apparently. The kiwi expat premiered her spring/summer 2010 range at New York Fashion Week and the collection was inspired by cult British TV series The Prisoner.
Â

A retired British spy is held captive in a prison that also appears to be a seaside resort village, there’s mind control, dream manipulation and a little bit of hallucinatory drug experiences – and somehow Walker has captured all of this with the sea side ambience and psychedelic prints of her new range. The collection has plenty of navy and nautical stripes, some polka dots and blocks of bright yellow, as well as some eye catching prints to break it all up.
Â
The result is quirky and eclectic without being too over the top, a perfect mix of romantic nostalgia and breezy summer wear that’s as relaxed as it is chic.

And for those of you playing at home, here are some screen shots from Walker’s inspiration “The Prisoner”.
