Elite Syd School At Centre Of Rape Scandal Holds ‘Moral Education’ Classes

Content warning: this post discusses sexual assault.

In the wake of the shocking events concerning a 15-year-old Cranbrook School student who’s currently facing charges of raping an unconscious teenage girl while his friend filmed it, the elite Sydney private school is assuring parents of its ongoing “moral and emotional education” program.
PEDESTRIAN.TV has obtained an email sent to Cranbrook parents this afternoon regarding a Sex & Relationships event for parents that will be held tonight. A similar event was held for Year 9 boys during the school day today.
The email tells parents that the school’s Senior School Student Wellbeing Programme, which covers issues like drinking, pornography and peer pressure, takes place every fortnight, complemented by the Sex & Relationships Day in Year 9 and a Year 11 Conference.
“We take our responsibility to encourage and develop the moral awareness and generosity of spirit amongst our students very seriously,” Principal Nicholas Sampson writes.
“Single-sex schools have a particular responsibility to promote healthy and respectful relationships with the opposite gender: our boys are addressed on the specific topic of respect for girls and women on a regular basis within a number of forums.”
The email also confirms that the school will not be offering comment on the ongoing assault case.
Reportedly, the alleged offender had only recently transferred to Cranbrook, which costs $41,000 per year, from another school. He no longer attends Cranbrook, and has been charged with aggravated sexual assault
