Quick update: Alexander McQueen’s fashion legacy will continue under the leadership of his longtime colleague Sarah Burton, who was just been appointed as the new in-house designer for McQueen’s eponymous brand.
The future of the fashion house has been the source of much speculation since the designer’s tragic death in February of this year and Burton seems the most appropriate successor – having worked with McQueen since 1996 and running the company’s women’s ready-to-wear line since 2000.
“Having worked alongside Lee McQueen for more than 14 years, she (Burton) has a deep understanding of his vision, which will allow the company to stay true to its core values,” said Jonathan Akeroyd, President and CEO of Alexander McQueen.
