Luke Istomin is the type of guy who knows exactly what he wants to achieve – and you can tell from the wake of gigantic projects and fitness initiatives he’s pioneered that he makes a habit of achieving them.

Having had a role in the creation of both F45 Fitness and RE:UNION (a group training initiative), Luke’s prowess in the fitness industry is just as undeniable as his patience, passion and dogged determination to bring results to anyone looking to get fit and make a big ol’ change in their lives (ahem, anyone who can make going to the gym appealing at 6am is a champion).

He’s trained the likes of Hugh Jackman, Nicole KidmanJessica Mauboy and Leonardo DiCaprio, so you know he’s the real deal. We spoke to Luke about what has kept his motivation going, how he celebrates when he meets his goals, and what it’s taken to get where he is now.

The biggest risk I’ve taken was… risks are only what you define them as. All experiences are opportunities to learn and grow from.

Something I learned from my high profile clients was… there is no “I” in team.

Some early challenges were… only the ones I put on myself. When I put my mind, body and soul into a project, there is no stopping me achieve what I set out to do.

At the time of starting out, the state of my finances was… not going to make the BRW Rich List!

A financial habit I had to change was… cutting back on just about everything that wasn’t a necessity. Until you hit your KPI’s, you don’t have the luxury of being a big spender.

I managed to save / budget by… making my own meals. Not having any holidays for a few years. Not going out for dinners. Not seeing friends for social occasions. Doing whatever it takes to get the job done.

I learned from creating F45 that… I have so much more to offer the fitness industry with my proven methods and listening to what people want and need to reach their ultimate body and mindset.

One lesson I wanted to carry through in my later ventures was… People deserve to be treated with as much love and respect as they can. I’m a big believer in karma, and I always do my best to make every person I meet feel important.

I celebrated my early wins by… proposing to my girlfriend of almost five years.

I still need to work on… time management, especially during the NBA season!

My long-term goals are… to have RE:UNION as the benchmark training standard throughout the globe. Helping as many people as humanly possible be the best version of themselves.

The best bit of advice I received was… make love to your woman every day, even if it’s not physical.

If I had to give a budding entrepreneur one tip, it would be… dream, believe, create, succeed. And everything takes longer than you could ever expect.
