Sloane Stephens just won the United States‘ biggest tennis tournament, the US Open, after beating opponent Madison Keys in straight sets. It’s her first Grand Slam title, and her first Grand Slam payday, and her reaction to receiving a check for approximately $4.5 million dollars (US$3.7 million) is, well… it’s pretty much exactly how you would probably react if someone handed you a life-changing amount of money, really.

Apparently she made almost as much in one day as she has in the last seven years. Who can blame her for looking a little scandalised.

Asked if the #USOpen title makes her hungry for another grand slam title, Sloane Stephens replied “of course girl, did you see that check?!”

It is honestly kind of a treat to see a sports superstar in the making right before multi-million dollar checks start to seem commonplace. That pure, incredulous joy is really something to behold.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go stare at a wall and think about my many mistakes, including giving up tennis when I was twelve years old. Goodbye.
