WATCH: Triathlete Gives Up 2nd To Carry Knackered Bro Over Finish Line

If you thought the Rio Olympics exhausted our supply of goddamn exemplary sportsmanship, the Brownlee brothers would like a word. When they fully recover, that is.

At the final World Triathlon event of the season in Cozumel, Mexico, Brit Jonathan Brownlee was just about to nick first place.
A win woulda given him the title, in addition to the silver medal he picked up in Rio, but the tough nut was severely impacted by heat stroke and exhaustion a mere kilometre from the finish line.
With his brother Alistair just behind, and struggling to hold off South African competitor Henri Schopman, things looked dicey as Jonathan’s legs buckled on the home stretch.

Look, we’re just gonna let you watch footage of the race’s conclusion before we fill in the remaining deets:

Goddamn inspiring.
Jonathan finished in second place thanks to his bro, but he also managed to scoop a second-place finish for the season.
Good news on his condition afterwards, too: after being hospitalised as a precaution, Jonathan was in strong enough shape to give his bro some well-deserved props… And he even managed to take the piss out of himself:

Sports are wonderful. Family is wonderful. This is wonderful. Fair bloody play, Brownlee boys.
