Cyclist Anna Meares Will Be ‘Straya’s Flag Bearer & Captain At Rio Olympics

This morning, it has been announced that our official flag bearer and captain of the Aussie Olympic team for the Rio Olympics will be…
*drumroll*
Anna Meares!

The 32-year-old track cyclist, who is originally from Queensland but currently resides in Adelaide, will be taking part in her fourth Olympic Games this year in Rio, and is a dual Olympic Gold medallist.
Meares spoke to news sources yesterday about potentially being Australia’s flag bearer and captain:
“For me it has been all about getting on the team for Rio and competing for Australia.

Just to have my name in the mix, there are some truly incredible athletes in the team already and that in itself is a huge honour, it’s a big decision ahead of Kitty (Chiller) tomorrow and I’m waiting with bated breath like everyone else.

What would it mean? I’d be speechless to be quite honest, we’ll see.”
And speechless she must be. Congratulations, Anna!
