Any New South Wales victory in a State of Origin game warrants celebration. It’s a rare occurrence which not even powerful and ancient prophets can foretell, so you’ve gotta hand it to the Blues when they do it, and let ’em have their celebrations.
There’s a particular form of NRL celebration which involves a player jumping wildly into the air under the assumption that gravity will do you a solid and bend the rules for just a moment while you soar gracefully.
Aaron Woods thought that would be the case at Origin last night. He was going in for a graceful high-five after Michael Jennings scored the match-winner in the 79th minute.
It was not the case, as this eternally looping Vine will testify:
Have it from another angle, why not?
Congrats Aaron Woods on this magnificent high five and the Blues for winning #StateOfOrigin 3. pic.twitter.com/G3LfVjSgYe

You can pinpoint the exact moment he realises that he was not destined, by whim of time and space, to be part of that high five. It’s heartbreaking, but in a way inspiring.
Up the Blues.
