SHOTS FIRED: Queensland Scrapes A Victory In A Super Close Origin Game 1

Mate against mate, state against state, people that like League against people that spent today on Facebook dismissively calling it “sportsball” like a complete dick: it’s Origin time motherfuckers!

After a Blues win in 2014 upset the almost appallingly long Queensland victory streak, the series is back to being an actual contest, with NSW playing their strongest side in recent memory.
The first half was where all of the action took place, which still wasn’t all that much, with QLD taking an early lead with a penalty goal off the back of a pretty questionable high tackle by Paul Gallen
Followed by tries from the Blues’ Boyd Cordner and Maroons’ Dane Gagai, with Adam Reynolds and Johnathan Thurston missing their respective conversions, leaving the half-time score at 4-6 to QLD, staying that way right up until the end.
There were no points at all scored the second half, but the Blues came very, very close after Josh Morris made what was initially called as a try but then got overturned by The Bunker after the footage was reviewed.
It was a close match but good to know the Maroons can still win without Mal Meninga as coach.
