Tony Hawk Rode A Hoverboard For Real This Time

Tony Hawk, a skateboarding demi-god whose eponymous skateboarding video game series taught bored teens everywhere the value of knowing how to spell skate, has redeemed himself for his heartbreaking lies about the existence of hoverboards by actually taking a spin on one.
Footage of Hawk, who earlier this year took part in the world’s cruelest Funny Or Die hoax, has emerged and boy does it look promising:

The hoverboard prototype comes from the gravity wizards at Hendo, a company combining sorcery science and Kickstarter to design, manufacture and market a functioning Back To The Future style hoverboard.

So then, how does it work? Tell ’em Jesse Pinkman.

Per the Hendo Kickstarter page: “The magic behind the hoverboard lies in its four disc-shaped hover engines. These engines induce an opposing magnetic field in the surface substrate below that provides lift, levitating our board off the ground. While our hoverboard is primarily intended to be self-propelled, the actions which stabilize it can also be used to drive it forward by altering the projected force on the surface underneath it.”

Yeah, bitches.
