We’ve all had rough days at the office but spare a thought for English Super League front rower Paul Wood who misunderstood his instructions to go out and have a ball-tearer. Playing for Warrington against Leeds in last weekend’s grand final, Wood not only shared in the misery of defeat with his teammates as the Wolves went down 26-18, but he also found out that a stray knee had ruptured his testicle in the 50th minute. Remarkably Wood played on despite the serious injury. That takes some massive…er, never mind.
Wood has been surprisingly up-beat about the whole affair with is courage inspiring many. Others though, question whether he’s just lost his marbles.
