Olympic GOAT Simone Biles is set to make her return to Tokyo 2020, with USA Gymnastics confirming she’ll be competing in the balance beam final on Tuesday evening.

The USA team confirmed she’ll be returning for the last day of the artistic gymnastics after taking leave from her team last week to focus on her mental health.

“We are so excited to confirm that you will see two U.S. athletes in the balance beam finals tomorrow,” USA Gym said in a tweet on Monday evening.

Suni Lee AND Simone Biles!! Can’t wait to watch you both!”

After a falter on the vault where she hesitated, didn’t complete her intended rotations, and botched the landing, Simone withdrew from the remainder of the team final to protect her mental health.

She later confirmed that she would not be continuing with the team in the remainder of the event, and was also stepping back from the all-around final on Thursday. USA officials said that Simone would be having daily evaluations with medical staff, and would be deciding each day one whether she would return to the competition.

On Sunday August 1, USA Gymnastics confirmed that Simone would not return for the event final for floor, and would make a decision on beam later in the week.

By Monday night the decision had been made, and Simone was locked in to make her return to the competition for the beam final, closing out her appearance at the Tokyo Games.

Her return to the Games could also mean we might get to see her perform her signature move at the upcoming event – the Biles on beam – which involves a double-twisting double backflip to dismount.

She flexed this GOAT move at the Olympic trials back in June, so fingers crossed we’ll get treated to it again in the beam finals tonight. The women’s artistic gymnastics beam final kicks off at 6.50pm AEST, and you can tune in to watch on Channel 7’s coverage of the Games.
