Rangi Chase Is Some Sort Of Rugby Sorcerer, Pulls Off Unbelievable Try Assist

Former NRL and current British Super League player Rangi Chase is a goddamned ball-handling magician. After leaving Australian shores in 2009 following stints with St George-Illawarra and Wests pivot for England and the Super League – first landing with the Castleford Tigers, before shifting to current team the Salford Red Devils last year.

Since leaving Australia, his reputation for mercurial ball skills has grown steadily. But none of his feats on the rugby field are likely to rival what he managed to pull of last night.
In a game against Hull FC, Chase helped set up four tries that pushed the Red Devils to a 32-28 victory – their first of the season.
But it’s this try assist that’s got everyone’s eyes out on stalks. Seemingly having the ball on a string, Chase not only faked a pass to himself, stalling the defence in its tracks, he then completed the play with a behind-the-back pass to a teammate who subsequently crossed the try line.
I think I’ve watched this maybe 20 times in a row now, and I’m still struggling to comprehend exactly what just happened.

Mother of GOD. I mean, I’ve heard of having the ball on a string. But that was ridiculous.
