Peru Has Sent Australia A Bloody Lovely Message Before Our World Cup Clash

It’s been 36 long years since Peru last qualified for the World Cup. Over that time, football dynasties have come and gone, new legends have emerged, and basically every other South American nation has taken a stab at the big one.

But Peru is ready for glory in Russia next month. It’s just unlucky that Australia stands in their way.

In a new video directed at Australia – and at Peru’s other Group C competitors, France and Denmark – the Selección Peruana has showcased the kind of grit and passion we can expect at kickoff.

Referencing the deadly 1987 plane crash which killed the majority of the Alianza Lima squad, and the recent death of legendary commentator Daniel Peredo, the clip affirms the nation’s obsession with the sport.

It’s enough to give Aussie fans a second team to support – and that doesn’t even address the fact they sealed their qualification by defeating New Zealand.

Peru face the Socceroos on June 27, but they might just earn a few more fans Down Under before then.
