Novak Djokovic Smashed Out Of Aus Open In Second Round By World #117

World #2 Novak Djokovic has just been eliminated from the Australian Open after a brutal, gruelling five set loss to #117 Denis Istomin.

Yep. It’s only the second round of the Open, but the Melbourne tournament is still ruining the titans of the game.

Djokovic, the returning champ whom many predicted to reaffirm his claim in 2017, was overcome by the 30-year-old Uzbek 7-6 (10-8), 5-7, 2-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4.

That’s right. One of the most dominant players of the modern era gave away the win, despite leading by two bloody sets at one point in the nearly five-hour-long match.
Istomin seemed pretty chuffed about it, though.

2017 cares not for redemption stories, comings of age, or dominant records. 2017 wants chaos – and plucky Uzbeks.
