The bright lights of live television aren’t for everyone, even in industries where media obligations are part of the job. A live TV set is an intimidating place at the best of times, and that this kind of thing hasn’t happened more often is something of a miracle in and of itself.
Melbourne Victory star Mitch Austin made a brief appearance on ABC earlier this morning, abruptly walking off set shortly after the interview with presenter Georgie Tunny began, reportedly suffering the onset of a panic attack.
Footage of the incident shows a slightly taken aback Tunny gamely moving on with the broadcast, as fellow presenters watched Austin leave.
Well this is one way to promote the @ALeague @BreakfastNews @adampeacock3 @gomvfc. Hope you’re alright @mitchaustin10! pic.twitter.com/Lh3iNmupcR

Once the situation became clear, the ABC respectfully explained the situation to viewers, drawing praise on social media from fans who also extended well-wishes to Austin.
Panic attacks are bloody awful and I never wish them on anyone. Big love @mitchaustin10

Austin is reportedly ok, and described the incident as a one-off.
The 26-year-old is still set to line up for the Victory in their A-League season opener this coming weekend against Sydney FC.
