Karl Stefanovic Will Try His Hand At Aussie Rules In Next Week’s EJ Whitten Legends Match

MC Karl Stefanovic is to showcase yet another string to his bow (getting drunk, bad rapping, Dad jokes) when he takes the field as part of this year’s EJ Whitten Legends Game in Melbourne next week.

The Federal Minister For Hijinks will take the field for a match played in honour of AFL’s “Mr Football” Teddy Whitten, who lost his life to prostate cancer almost two decades ago, and whose irreverent Legends Game is staged annually to raise much needed funds for prostate cancer research and men’s health issues. In the eighteen years since his death, an exhibition match has been played in his honour, pitting a motley crew of celebrities, media personalities and retired AFL stars against each other in a scrappy battle of oneupmanship noted for its complete lack of defence and professionalism.
This year is no different.
Team Victoria, coached this year by Rex Hunt and captained by Kangaroos legend Glenn Archer, balance out a formidable roster of former superstars including Matthew LloydAnthony Koutoufides and Brendan Fevola with pasty media personalities of questionable agility like Dave Hughes. While over at the All Stars, coached and captained by former Hawks great Shane Crawford, our man Karl will be shooting off lace-out bullets to retired heavyweights including Jeff Farmer and Troy Luff
Tune in because it’s a grand old time and at any point this could happen…

The Ray White EJ Whitten Legends Game will be broadcast Tuesday July 1st at 8:30pm on the Nine network in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
