Football Thug Invades Pitch And Belts Goalkeeper

Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Chris Kirkland suffered further indignation after letting in an equaliser to Leeds United as over-zealous celebrations broke out and a Leeds fan invaded the pitch and blindsided Kirkland with a two-handed shove to the face. Th culprit fled to the stands as the felled Kirkland required medical attention with police needing several minutes to suppress the rowdy fans. It was tough night at the office for the former Chelsea and England keeper targeted with bottles and broken seats!

While not yet confirmed, talk on Twitter suggests that the culprit is known Leeds pest Aaron Cawley. It’s not first time Cawley had been involved in hooliganism. In fact it was one of the many with the 20 year-old banned from every ground in the country when he was 16 after his involvement in a 200-strong riot at Leeds’ Elland Road ground. While Cawley claims he isn’t a hooligan, it’s hard to argue with a ban that forbids him from travelling on the national rail network to or from any town or city on the day Leeds play a home or away game in that city. Sounds a bit like a hooligan.
