Brett Lee Farewells Professional Career In Big Bash League Loss To Perth Scorchers

The Perth Scorchers took out the Big Bash League title by four wickets against the Sydney Sixers last night in Canberra, unfortunately farewelling cricket legend Brett Lee’s professional career with a loss.

Perth Scorcher’s Yasir Arafat brought home their required single last night, off a bat that could have secured Lee a fairytale, hat-trick finish to his career, with Sydney’s Moisés Henriques fumbling on the return.

“I thought it was a difficult ball to catch… if you were out there and someone pegged the ball to you from seven metres away it’s not that easy on a rough square like that,” Henriques said. The Sixers captain commented on Lee’s retirement: “It’s not his body giving in, I think mentally he’s decided it’s enough for him … he’s still good enough to perform at this level, as we saw tonight.”

Brett Lee has been a stalwart of Australian cricket for over twenty years, playing 76 tests and 221 one-day internationals, aka, a bloody legend.

Onya, Brett Lee. Cricket will miss you.

Congratulations to the Perth Scorchers on their BBL win, but I think we all know the true winner of the league. Hands down, this fella.
