The sporting pitch is often referred to as a battle field but it was only through dumb luck that Sepahan FC midfielder Adel Kolahkaj narrowly without escaped losing his hand/arm/life when an explosive device was thrown onto the pitch during the Asian Champions League quarterfinal clash against Al Ahli. Kolahki picked up the small black device and threw it from the field moments before it exploded. No one was hurt, and the game resumed ending in a 0-0 draw. The culprit remains at large. Soccer hooligans have always been partial to a bit of projectile tossing but this is taking it to a whole ‘nother level.
