Aussie Cricketers Turn Down Sex, Thump India

First it was gastro inducing bottled water, then rioting fans locked out of a full-house stadium, now our Australian cricketers have had to contend with a security dodging sex-worker as they try to remain focused as they progress into the next round of the T20 World Cup.

The man breached supposedly tight security on Monday at the luxury Cinnamon Grand hotel in central Colombo where the Australians are staying.

“The man had gone into a player’s room offering his services as a male escort,” a police officer involved in the case told AFP. “The player refused and he barged into another room when the Australians alerted hotel security.”

The offender was charged and fined 1000 rupees ($7.50). Wow! If that’s all you get fined for breaking, entering, and soliciting sex, then I wonder how much for a… actually, never mind. The incident had little impact on the Australians as they flogged T20 heavyweights, India, by 9 wickets last night.

Once again, Shane Watson was star of the show snagging his third man-of-the-match award in a row after dominating with bat and ball. Watson (3/34) claimed his second 3 wicket haul of the tournament while Pat Cummins (2/16) tied up his end as the bowlers restricted India to 7/140. Watson (72 off 42 balls) and Dave Warner (63 not out from 41 deliveries) ensured or supposed brittle middle order need not pad up as the Aussies cruised to the total with 5.1 overs to spare.
