Ash Barty Quoted ‘The Little Mermaid’ After Her Latest Wimbledon Victory

Ash Barty

Ash Barty continues to crush it at Wimbledon, defeating Britain’s Harriet Dart in a tidy 6-1 6-1 victory in her first appearance at centre court.

The young Aussie breezed past Dart in just 53 minutes, and is currently on track to meet Serena Williams in the quarter finals, if both win their next matches.

She was in high spirits in her post-match press conference, telling reporters it was a privilege to be able to strut her stuff on one of the best tennis courts in the world.

The real kicker came when a reporter asked her how she chooses what shot to play, and she responded with a line from The Little Mermaid classic ‘Under The Sea‘.

She said:

“For me sometimes I look at a shot, I play a shot, and then I think the seaweed’s always greener in someone else’s lake, and I try and think of how else I can win the point. Really I just need to go about it and be really simple, make up my mind, pick my spot, hit it, and try and bring a simple mindset and have a clarity about how I want to play.”

Legend. You can see her response at around the five-minute mark below:
