HELL YES: Every Game Of The 2019 AFLW Season Will Be Shown On Live TV

There’s good news for fans of good, no-nonsense, gimmick-free footy today: the AFLW has struck a massive new broadcast rights agreement with the Seven Network and Foxtel that will see every game of the 2019 season and beyond aired on live TV.

The deal, confirmed this morning, covers the next four years of the AFLW and will see the elite women’s game beamed live across Australia, with the games airing on free-to-air TV in a lot of cases.

Under the agreement, Seven will broadcast two games per round live and free in every state and territory. Non-Victorian teams will have their side’s games beamed in live on Seven every week in their respective local markets. Beyond that, Foxtel will broadcast every game of every round live and in full HD on their subscription services.

In 2020, when the league expands again to 14 teams, Seven will broadcast three games per week live and free.

All finals will be broadcast jointly by both Seven and Foxtel, including the AFLW Grand Final which, for the moment, is scheduled to coincide with Round 2 of the 2019 men’s season.

Every game will also be streamed live via both Seven and Foxtel’s respective apps, as well as via the official AFLW app with the subscription-based League Pass.

The AFL’s head of women’s football Nicole Livingston this morning extolled the virtues of the new deal, which puts every game of the AFLW season on broadcast TV for the very first time:

The anticipation around season three of the AFLW continues to build and the new broadcast agreement is another important milestone in the journey we are on.

We are thrilled that every AFLW match will be broadcast live for at least the next four years.

We thank Seven and Foxtel for their fantastic commitment to and support of AFLW.

Absolutely get around ’em!

The 2019 AFLW season kicks off on Saturday, February 2nd with a clash between Collingwood and league newcomers Geelong.

FOOTY DOESN’T STOP.
