AFL Grand Final Likely To Be Hottest On Record

In a matter of minutes, the standoff between the Hawks and the Eagles will kick off one of Australia’s biggest sporting weekends of the year, as the AFL Grand Final is set to be decided this afternoon.

And it’s a bloody beautiful weekend for it, as Summer has reared its sweet head early for this “Spring” weekend.

While solid long weekend bantz and XXXX Gold flow (tomorrow), though, spare a thought for the ledges on the field at the MCG – as history is likely to be made this afternoon, with temperatures set to rise and likely make the 2015 AFL Grand Final the hottest on record.

1987‘s decider between Carlton and Hawthorn currently holds the record of AFL’s most fire GF of all time at 30.7 degrees; but if the mercury inches a touch more, this afternoon’s game could well topple the 28-year-long record.

A grand final game being too fire hasn’t lessened the energy of crowds: after locals were well-rested from Victoria’s newest public holiday yesterday, queues began to amass from first light this morning at the MCG.

Melbourne, you’re in for a scorcher. For wherever your allegiance lies, this afternoon:
