A 20 Y.O. Just Captained Scotland’s Footy Side & We’re Over Here Doing SFA

Fair play to us all, there’s not a lot of point in comparing ourselves to where anyone else is at at similar points in their lives. Everyone has their own timeline. Everyone moves at their own pace. Success isn’t something you should measure in comparison to that of anyone else. ‘Course that all falls in a  shitheap when you consider the fact that footballing gun Kieran Tierney just captained Scotland‘s national side at the ripe old age of twenty years old.

The Celtic (BOO HISS) defender ran out for his country with the captain’s armband on for Scotland’s international friendly against the Netherlands earlier today, which the Dutch managed to squeak through with a 1-0 victory.

But it’s Tierney’s captaincy that’s got everyone talking. At just 20 years, and barely 5 months old, Tierney is the second-youngest captain in Scottish national football history.

Tierney has also casually captained his club side, the Scottish giants Celtic (RAAAAAAAANGERRRRRRRRRRS), and just signed a six-year contract extension with the side. And he still can’t legally get a drink in the United States.

The bonnie wee lad’s youthfulness and accomplishments has gotten everyone in a tizz, with the typically bloody delightful Scottish Twitter providing the hilarious comparative commentary throughout the game.

And those are just some of the more readable ones, to be perfectly honest. This one from a few days ago? Not so much.

If you can decipher that one for us, we’d be forever grateful.

Sweet, pure, wonderful Scottish Twitter. Never change. Never, ever, ever change.
