Just days after complaining that she wasn’t going to hit 100 million followers within the year, TikTok star Charli D’Amelio has done it. She’s hit 100 million. Huge.
After days of losing followers following the trainwreck Dinner With The D’Amelios video, Charli finally surpassed the milestone, becoming the first star on the platform to hit 100 million.
“Is this real life right now,” she wrote on Twitter.

Before we go any further, I just need to stress *just* how big this is. Like… Literally four times the size of Australia.
If Australia tried to fight Charli D’Amelio stans, we almost definitely wouldn’t win. It’s a lot of power for a literal child to have. Terrifying stuff, really.
The news comes after an absolutely wild week in D’Amelio’s life, marking possibly her biggest scandal to date.
For those of you who aren’t keeping up with TikTok drama, the D’Amelios invited James Charles over for dinner (who somehow manages to find himself involved in every internet drama), where they were allegedly rude to their personal chef, angering fans.
Ironically, Charli also received a tonne of backlash for her comments in the video, in which she complained about not quite reaching 100 million followers within a year of reaching 1 million.
Honestly, this comment was blown wildly out of proportion because it’s easy to see that she was merely stating that it’s *slightly* frustrating to be so close to a major milestone, but miss it by that much. I truly don’t think this was her being ungrateful or spoilt, as much as it was just her vocalising that she was *so* close to the goal.
Unfortunately, this saw her lose a tonne of followers almost instantly.
According to Social Blade, D’Amelio lost a whopping half a million followers in one single day on Friday, as news of the scandal circulated social media.
However, it appears the scandal didn’t do much to harm her career long-term, with the 16-year-old surpassing 100 million just two days later. I guess this is proof that any publicity is good publicity.
I don’t know enough about Charli’s content to really judge, but it’s pretty cool to see how TikTok and its algorithm has the power to turn regular ol’ teenagers into mega influencers in a few short years. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go do the Renegade until I’m rich and famous.
