ZombiCon Organisers Speak Out As Shooter-At-Large Kills 1, Injures 4

Organisers of the massive ZombiCon in Florida have taken to social media to express their horror over a real, deadly shooting at the event.

The shooting took place just before midnight, leaving one person dead and four injured. In a snap press conference, police said the culprit was still at large.  

Event organisers and attendees have used the event’s Facebook and Twitter page to talk about the shooting, with one user saying “this incident has nothing to due with this event but has everything to do with the “decomposition” of our community. Our communities are dying….unfortunately, the wrong zombie virus is winning.”

So glad we left zombicon when we did, hope everyone else is okay. The world is a scary place.

Described as one of the largest zombie-themed events in the world, the Fort Myers-based convention may have drawn as many as 20,000 horror fans. It’s the seventh year in a row the convention has run, but the first time the event has had an actual shooting.
