YouTuber Grant Thompson, AKA ‘The King Of Random’, Dies Aged 38

Grant Thompson, known to most as the hugely followed YouTuber The King Of Random, died on Tuesday evening at the age of 38.

The Canadian-born American YouTuber made a name for himself on the video platform uploading experiments and life hacks, picking up a following of over 11 million subscribers on YouTube and almost 2.5 billion views.

Thompson took a step back from his channel last year, introducing a new host, Nate, and later a female co-host, Calli.

A statement on both the King Of Random Instagram and YouTube accounts said Thompson had passed away on Monday night local time.

“Grant had great love and appreciation for his fans,” read the statement.

“We invite you to share your thoughts for Grant and the channel in the comments. Please do a random act of love or kindness today in honor of The King of Random. Grant’s legacy will live on in the channel and the global community he created.”

In a tweet, YouTube confirmed Thompson’s passing and said he was a “gifted, passionate, and endlessly curious creator.”
