Yoko Ono Film To Screen at St Kilda StripFest

No, its not what you think. Get your mind out of the gutter and into the shops as StripFest takes over St Kilda next week!

StripFest is an intersection of community, arts and local businesses, and points the spotlight directly at local shopping strips. This year’s strip is Acland St, St Kilda, and for seven days, locals, visitors and passers-by will be teased and pleased by plays, performances, public, readings, events, exhibitions, installations, bands, drag, gigs and comedy gold. Program highlights include Yoko Ono‘s controversial film “Arising”, backstage tours of the iconic Palais Theatre and walking Op Shop tours. As St Kilda-based musician and StripFest ambassador Debra Conway points out “Strip shopping is what makes cities buzz; sure you can generally buy what you need in a giant mall but what you can’t get is street life and the effortless integration of neighbourhood, passerby, shopper and street art. StripFest has chosen to come into being to celebrate all that’s good about our local shopping strips”

StripFest runs from the 23 – 30 August, and if you wanted to squeeze in a trip to the strippers, we won’t judge you. Check www.stkildavillagestripfest.com for full program details.
