One Nation Senator Pauline Hanson has quite literally called for Australian Muslims to be interned.
In an open letter to Malcolm Turnbull posted on her Facebook page today (what, he wasn’t returning your calls), she implored the Prime Minister to take a stronger stance on “Islamic terrorism” in wake of the recent attacks.
“Stronger action needs to be taken on migrants and refugees who come to the attention of Australian security forces. Those on watch lists who are not Australian citizens need to be deported and those who are, interned to neutralise their possible harm to this country.”
As well as suggesting the indefinite detention of citizens not found guilty of a crime, she also called to for police powers to be increased, the Immigration Minister to be unaccountable to the law, a Trump-style Muslim travel ban (which he continues to tweet about in an increasingly unhinged manner), and something vague in the direction of mosques and families.
“I urge you to understand that radicalisation of Muslims is not just occurring via the internet as is being reported. It starts in mosques, it starts in families and it starts in communities which are allowed to segregate from mainstream Australia.”
In fact, the one sane thing she mentioned in this entire letter was that “not all Muslims are responsible for the crimes of a few”, yet here she is, literally suggesting they be punished for it all the same.
It comes just days after she was widely criticised for appropriating the police warning ‘Run, Hide, Tell‘ issued during the London terror attack to once again call for a total Muslim ban.
