Watch What Happens When Four Young Australians Paint Our Past, Present And Future

Produced in association with Melbourne Polytechnic

Australians are an enterprising bunch, never content to settle for mediocrity nor hesitant to reward outstanding achievements in the field of excellence

Using this spirit as a guide over the past two months, a team of four students at Melbourne Polytechnic – dubbed The Dream Team – came together with the goal of assembling a visual representation of eight icons who exemplify what it means to be an Australian responsible for not only affecting positive change on their home turf, but taking on and ultimately ruling the world.
The results speak for themselves: a visually striking, astonishingly diverse and endlessly inspiring cross section of modern Australia’s past, present and future.
Game-changing Australians featured on the mural include (L-R) Indigenous sporting legend Evonne Goolagong Cawley; Melbourne artist and illustrator Leigh Hobbs; the late godfather of modern Australia, Gough Whitlam; somebody that you used to know, Wally De Backer; visionary modernist and architect, Robin Boyd; Australia’s epicurean materfamilias, Stephanie Alexander; thespian legend, Geoffrey Rush and the late, great disability activist, journalist and comedian Stella Young.
Watch what happens below when Australia’s next generation of creatives are tasked with paying homage to those who shaped much of where we are today, and where we’re headed from here.
