WATCH: Tina Fey Goes To War In The “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot” Trailer

Sisters might be having a hell of a time going head-to-head with a little indie flick called Star Wars: The Force Awakens in the US right now, but the season of Tina Fey is just warming up.

The former Liz Lemon has another big-time feature film on the cusp of release in Whiskey Tango Foxtrot (WTF. Get it? See what they did there?) another comedy from the pen of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt co-creator Robert Carlock.
The film, based on the memoir from American journo Kim Barker – “The Taliban Shuffle: Strange Days in Pakistan and Afghanistan” – centres around Fey as Barker, a journalist at a crossroads in life and career, who takes up the chance to head to the Afghani warzone to cover the ongoing efforts of the American military on the frontline in the war against the Taliban.
Ahead of its release date in March, Paramount has dropped the first trailer for the film. And be damned if it doesn’t actually look too bad at all.

The film sports a stacked cast that includes Fey, ‘Straya’s own Margot Robbie, Martin Freeman, Billy Bob Thornton, Alfred Molina, and Christopher Abbott.
The directing duo of Glenn Ficarra and John Requa handled behind-the-camera duties for the film, having previously helmed titles such as Bad Santa and Crazy Stupid Love. That, combined with the cast and the script from Carlock means that this has a fairly solid chance of being pretty damned good indeed.
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is scheduled for release in the US on March 3rd, 2016. No word yet on an Australian release date.
