Vandals Ripped Up The Seats On A NSW Train Carriage & Stacked Them V Neatly

Ok. This is vandalism. There’s no two ways about it. People’s days suffered minor inconveniences as a result of this. And that’s bad.
But god damn, if ever there were such a thing this is *interesting* vandalism. If nothing else it’s damned creative.
A train carriage running on the Blue Mountains intercity service to Lithgow had all its seats ripped out from their frames – every single on of them – with the seat cushions then placed floor-to-ceiling in a remarkably organised pile.
A commuter by the name of Steve Mateer encountered the obviously deserted upper deck when travelling home from work on Tuesday night.

Steve, who got on the train at Katoomba, remarked of the scene:

“I have never seen anything like it.”

Frankly, neither have we. Look at the way the seats have been arranged at the rear of the carriage. Deliberate, purposeful, not an inch of space wasted.

In certain circumstances, crime can be artful. And this is absolutely one of those times. Look at the thought that’s gone into this effort; the three upright seats that serve as a retaining wall, shoring up the structure; the foresight to adapt the shape of the stack to the curvature of the ceiling, rather than building vertical piles; the cleanliness and neatness of the seat frames left behind, save for one lone water bottle representing the fluidity of transport.
Still, this is vandalism, and that is a crime. NSW Translink has taken CCTV footage from the train and various stations and handed it to NSW police, who are investigating the matter.
In the meantime, if you happen to know whichever modern-day Michelangelo is responsible for this, maybe avoid playing them at Jenga.
