One thing that is totally alien to us as Australians is the phenomenon of gun advertising. Obviously we see literally zero ads for guns in our sunny, gunless nation, but American ads are usually pretty great – a huge collection of wonderful appeals to fear, terror and masculine insecurity. The phenomenon of ‘Gun Nuts’ speaks to all three:
