Donald Trump showed up in Texas today in the wake of the devastation caused by Hurrican Harvey. He turned his attention to the most important thing of all after a disaster which has killed nine people: the size of the crowd at his appearance.
“What a crowd, what a turn out,” he said to the throng of people, who apparently numbered in the hundreds. The priorities, folks – they’re good.

Continuing his address, Trump cheered on the state of Texas:
Thank you everybody, I just want to say: We love you, you are special, we are here to take care, it’s going well, and I want to thank you for coming out. We’ll get you back and operating immediately. It’s historic, its epic, but I tell you it happened in Texas and Texas can handle anything.
Obviously, everyone was completely fascinated by the fact that Trump – who frequently obsesses over crowd sizes at his rallies and speeches, both in public and private – would continue that tradition in front of a throng of displaced people.

Trump cares about television fame, ratings, and crowd size more than anything else. It’s a bizarre obsession that blinds him to what matters https://t.co/I2UwAZa3Sl

45 didn’t make comments about the families who lost loved ones yet yells “what a crowd” to hurricane relief victims. Unreal #HurricaneHarvey

This isn’t the first comment he’s made about publicity in the wake of the hurricane. When he decided to pardon controversial lawbreaking sheriff Joe Arpaio, he announced it while the hurricane was bearing down the Gulf Coast. His reasoning? He said he “assumed the ratings would be far higher than they would be normally”.
Nice.
