Far be it from me to broadly swathe a large population of the planet with a stereotype, but the USA did just vote in a fetid sack of out-of-date cheetos as its leader so I’m just gonna say it. A lot of Trump supporters are dumb as heck.
Sure dumb people have existed for eons, but with the super connected technologically-ripe society we live in today, they’re given more tools to rear their ignorance and stupidity, point-in-case this twitter debacle going on at the mo, where mostly right-wing tweeters are getting riled up over what they percieve as an egregrious slander of their beloved President Trump but from what is literally a verbatim posting of the Declaration of Independence.
In addition to that thing that Nic Cage had to steal that one time in that movie, the Deco of Independo is one of those nation defining articles, like the US Constitution, often paraded by people of all political persuasions, but more usually swung about by right-wingers desperate to cling to tradition.
As part of their usual Independence Day celebrations, media outlet NPR tweeted the entire speech over a buttload of posts with a couple in particular being focused on by these deadshits.

The Twitter thread started off fine (see above) but quickly devolved into the kind of dense swirl of name-calling and idiocy the website is so well know for, however in this case it seems the self-proclaimed patriotic Trump supports, didn’t even know they were replying to words written 243 years ago by their own forefathers.
