In a recent panel appearance for the Criminal Justice Reform Summit, Kim Kardashian took a hot minute to try and explain the absolute nonsense declaration that Kanye West made last month about Donald Trump, which caused an avalanche of progressive artists to distance themselves from the MAGA hat-wearing rapper.
As reported by Variety, Kim has said that Kanye doesn’t really know much about the politics of Trump and his administration and that he “just happens to like Donald Trump’s personality,” and also said that he’s “not that political” which I guess explains this tweet about his eyes being opened. Maybe there was a full-blown intervention in the Kardashian-West house.
Kim went on to say that since their visit to The Oval Office – which in 2018 is probably the least weird thing that’s happened – Kim has had to get Kanye up to speed on the policies of the Trump administration, and probably why it’s not the best for him to be aligned with someone who is seemingly the antithesis of everything Ye stands for.
I’ve educated him recently. I think it gets really misconstrued. He will always say he was friendly with him before, and friendly with him now.
I think what my husband fights for — and again, he’s not the best communicator at explaining it—but what he fights for is the right to like what he wants to like, even if it’s different from what you like.
She also said that what he says in public in regards to politics and his support for Trump the man and not Trump the President Of The United States, is a stark difference from what he discusses privately.
But I’m around him all the time, so I know what he talks about in the home, and I’m like, ‘Wait you just said basically the opposite of what you just showed out there.’
CNN‘s Van Jones – who was the host of the panel Kim was speaking on – quipped that maybe Kanye needs a translator so we all bloody understand what he’s going on about half the time and well shit, ain’t that the truth. Apparently, Kim agrees on that idea, so it’s not as ridiculous as it seems, folks.
